Tomorrow marks the beginning of what feels like an uphill battle for my health and my family’s future. I start with a visit to my cardiologist, followed by appointments with an orthopedic surgeon, a gastroenterologist, and an endocrinologist. The list of specialists is daunting, but what weighs even heavier on my mind is the immediate financial strain we’re under.

Rent is $980, and at this point, with late fees added, covering that is the most urgent need right now. The thought of not being able to keep a roof over our heads is terrifying, especially with Christmas just around the corner. I want to give my kids a sense of normalcy, but right now, I’m struggling just to meet the basics.
